SOUNDWAVE WEEK 2014 RECAP--PART ONE

Okay so last week was my favourite week of the whole year- Soundwave Week and it was no joke one of the best weeks I've ever had in my life.

The Soundwave Week festivities kicked off early Wednesday morning, when Ellie, Matt and I ventured to the airport to meet some band members. Here are photos of everyone that I had the privilege of meeting:

Andy Biersack-Black Veil Brides

I used to reaaaaally like BVB and then I was kinda put off them for ages, coz I thought Andy was a bit of a butt. But when I met him he was actually so nice. I was the first person to go up and say hi to him and he let us follow him to baggage claim and posed for selfies.

Jade Puget- AFI

This was one of the most intense encounters. The bands were flying in by two different airlines, so that meant that they were landing at two different terminals. When we heard whispers that AFI were about to leave the Virgin Airlines terminal, about six of us legged it from Qantas to go see AFI. I got to take a photo with Jade and then there was this masterpiece:

I tried to take a sneaky selfie of me and Davey Havok and this was the final result. Worth running from terminal to terminal-heck yeah!

Ricky Horror and Chris Motionless-Motionless In White
MIW were in the same terminal as AFI, and not gonna lie they're pretty easy to pick out from a crowd of people-or Chris is anyway... I met Chris first and he's really tall I didn't know people could be so tall. But he was really sweet both he and Ricky signed my copy of Infamous which is now proudly displayed in my room. Then we met Ricky, after much hesitation as we weren't sure if it was Ricky or not. But yes it was, and he has really perfect eyebrows (the eyebrow game is so strong in our photo it's perfect)

Danny Worsnop and Ben Bruce-Asking Alexandria

The boys of AA were probably the nicest dudes I've ever met. Danny was extremely down to earth and engaged in conversation with us and thanked us for coming by. And Ben and I had a lovely conversation about the sideshow (which was on that night that I was going to) and said he hoped to see us. God damn, he could read me a chemistry text book and my face would go into the love heart eyes emoji in an instant.

Jeremy McKinnon-A Day To Remember

Meeting Jeremy was pretty funny. Matt left straight after we met the AA boys and he was like "I don't mind if I miss ADTR if they arrive a while after I leave" and they seriously arrived two minutes after he left and he was really upset. But Jeremy was a really rad dude and he signed my copy of Common Courtesy!

Adam Elmakias
Adam seriously takes some of the best live music photography I've ever seen. I've looked up to him and his work for a while now, and have had some rather interesting twitter interactions. I asked him to sign my camera case which he willingly did for me, so I feel like my camera has been blessed by one of my favourite photographer's ever!

M Shadows and Arin Ilejay (there's one more member I met but that's a saga in itself)-Avenged Sevenfold

I was so excited to meet M Shadows, he is definitely one of my favourite vocalists who's ever graced my ears, and he was one of the most lovely musicians I met that day. I say one of because then this fucker Arin Ilejay came along. He has done such a phenomenal job stepping into the Rev's shoes, and he was so exceptionally sweet, I mean seriously his smile could end world hunger.

AND THEN THE MOST DRAMATIC STORY OF THE DAY:
After we met Arin, we saw Johnny and Syn walking away so we we're like okay whatever, but there's still someone we haven't met. It registered with Nisa and I that we hadn't met Zacky Vengeance and we both yelled "WHERE'S ZACKY??" we asked Arin if he had seen him and he said he hadn't, but then Annie said that he was outside already meeting some people. Nisa and I legged it to the doors and subsequently smashed into them, and straight after they opened we ran outside and kept on yelling "WHERE'S ZACKY?". Little did we know that we had actually run the wrong way, and realised that he saw the whole saga unfold much to our embarrassment. But we managed to get selfies with him while we were internally laughing:

And that's the story of how I met all these amazing people!

do you believe in ghosts??

okay I'm writing this at 5.50am because I have had probably one of the weirdest nights of my life.
I've always had some belief in the supernatural since I was a little kid. I had an encounter with what I think was a ghost when I was 9 years old in a bathroom at school, where it was said a ghost inhabited the area (like moaning myrtle??) anyway, I let that one slip a little bit coz I thought my friends I was with were being assholes but I guess I kind of felt some sort of vibe when I went into that particular bathroom, so eventually I ended up getting shit scared and I never went to that bathroom again.
anyway, I have never had any other ghost encounters with humans per se since then. most recently I have had encounters with my dead pets-some of them I'm not sure if it's something that was just habit (ie hearing/seeing things just because I'm used to them) but I can shit you not I have seen things in my house, some so vivid I had to register that my pets are dead and they were probably popping in to say hey or something I'm not sure.
my pet mouse Michelangelo passed away in the living room (which is next door to my bedroom) after we had him for a year and a half-which is a mouse's typical life expectancy. for a period of time after the little guy's passing, I could hear him running on his wheel that he used to use at obscure times of the night. but that dulled away after a bit.
but the most predominant encounters that I've had have been with my dog.
we had Bonnie for ten years, and she passed away in November 2012 after a battle with cancer. I'm not alone in saying that I can feel her presence still, she had a pretty large personality that resonated with us all. Bonnie used to sleep in the living room, so for ages after she died I could hear her tail thumping on the floor when someone enters the kitchen, or her scurrying around the back room and most notably her "knocking" on the door when she wanted to get in or get out of the house. those were just sounds, but I can definitely tell you I can see her too.
I get glimpses of her sometimes sitting in the driveway or in her sleeping spot that last about a split second, but I've had two encounters that have lasted more than that.
when I was studying for exams last November I was home alone, typing away on my laptop when I decided I look up and I saw a big yellow figure carrying something in it's mouth sitting under my oak tree-it was obviously Bonnie sitting with her Cuddly (her favourite rug) in her mouth, tugging at it playfully as she did. I was a bit startled but I let it slip and didn't tell anyone. you see, my family while they feel her vibes, get a tad skeptical when I see things and they dismiss it with the fact that I've possibly been watching way too much Supernatural (which is kinda true, but that hasn't had any influence on my encounters).
but anyway, that leads us to right now. it was about 3am and I was having a relatively decent sleep, but my room started feeling really cold so I woke up to grab my doona. I rolled over and I saw two big brown eyes staring at me. my dog was staring at me, panting and smiling like she used to when she wanted a cuddle. after a good five seconds I screamed and blinked and she had vanished. I was shocked because she was so vivid and so close I didn't know what to do. I know I shouldn't be scared of her because she is my dog and I love her to shreds.
the two times I've seen Bonnie, she's never appeared unwell, so I presume that means in the afterlife she's being looked after-so thank God for that. for her to appear so vividly though, that's something else. I think I know why she came to me last night, so I intend to tell mum so I can give Bonnie's spirit some closure.
If Bonnie ever comes back to me, I want to tell her I love her and I miss her. I feel special that she came to visit me. but just as long as she's doing well for herself in her next life and she's coming to ask for or tell me something good, she's welcome to visit any time.
believe me, I think after watching three seasons of supernatural in two weeks I can tell the difference between a good and bad ghost.
